ELVIS PRESLEY

There is not much we could possibly say here regarding Elvis that everyone has not already heard. Elvis was and always will be “the King” of rock and roll, and MT is very proud to play a small part in the legend of Elvis. This release showcases Elvis at the beginning of his career, when he was still more interested in rock and roll and having fun. Features the Jordanairs on backing vocals, who would end up accompanying Elvis through most of his career. Also features his rockabilly back-up band with Scotty Moore on lead guitar, Bill Black on stand-up bass, J.D. Fontana on drums, and Floyd Cramer on piano.

Releases:

Featuring 18 tracks, this full length album was recorded live from various radio broadcasts of live concerts right at the beginning of Elvis’ career, only two weeks after Elvis’ first single came out on the Sun Records label. Hear early versions of such Elvis classics as “Hound Dog”, “That's All Right Mama”, and “Heart Break Hotel”, as well as Elvis’ interpretations of other rock and roll classics, like Carl Perkins’ “Blue Suede Shoes” , Little Richards’ “Long Tall Sally” and Chuck Berry’s “Maybelline”. Short interviews with Elvis from before the concerts are also included. Comprehensive liner notes by Geoff Horgan and a wonderfully designed cream/gold and black colored cover and label design round off this exquisite Manifest release. Not just for Elvis fans, most of the tracks are released here for the first time officially, many of which had only been part of various dubious Elvis bootlegs of inferior quality. Digitally remastered from the original master.
